On my way home, I felt a presence sneak up behind me. It was none other than a man about 20 years old looking for some “pleasure” in his life.
“Hey there gorgeous,” the man said. “Wanna come over to my house to have some fun?” He came closer to me and I saw that my leg went up to his shoulder. It was a crescent kick that I pulled off. He fell to the ground and was staggering to get up.
“If you do something like that again, you’ll get more than just a kick,” I warned. The man ran away as far as he could in the opposite direction as me. About 3 yards away from me, he tripped over his own feet. I walked home angered and arrived at my house in no time at all. Aunt Iris was in the kitchen handling the stove while Hydra was setting the table and fixing the chairs. I walked into the kitchen with the groceries. Aunt Iris pointed to a counter for me to place them.
“Start rinsing those vegetables,” she said sternly. I cleaned the broccoli, the carrots, and the other things in that area.
For dinner, we had some kind of soup with meat in it. It was either pork or beef, but I couldn’t tell. Hydra was eating without a complaint. Aunt Iris was looking at me, wondering what was wrong.
“Serenity,” said Aunt Iris. Is there something the matter?”
“Not really,” I said. “But there is something that I have to tell you.” I told her about why I was late and about Bastian. The only thing that I didn’t tell her about was seeing him half-naked. That was to stay within my thoughts.
“Well then, isn’t he a charmer,” Aunt Iris said. “But the thing is that although it was a good idea to get Bastian to become friends again, but you should’ve called first to make sure you get home safe.”
“I know,” I replied. “And I apologize for the inconvenience yesterday, Aunt Iris.” We continued to eat the soup. After dinner, Hydra told me about a boy that she met in her class.
“His name is Ronaldo Vadinci,” Hydra said. “You should’ve seen him, Reeni. He’s so cute and he can dance so well! And even better! He’s my partner for our pas de deux. What about you? Who is your partner?”
“A geek who happenes to have two left feet and talks about something called World of Warcraft everyday,” I replied bluntly.
“Wow, Reeni,” said Hydra. “You really reel in the nerds out there.” She giggled. I could’ve sworn I heard a rim shot play somewhere.
“Well then, did you meet any cute boys in school anyway?” she asked. Then I remembered Noah and that green-eyed boy that Amy likes. Connor, that’s his name.
“Yes, of course I have,” I replied.
“Could I see one of them?” Hydra asked with enthusiasm.
“Well, you can during Parent-Teacher Orientation next week.”
“YAY!” she squealed. I got to hand it to Hydra. Without her in the house, I’d be bored to tears. Since I was tired, I decided to go to sleep, even though it was 8:15.
“Well then Hydra,” I said. “It looks like I’m gonna turn in. G’night.”
“Alright then, Reeni,” she replied. I went upstairs to my room and took a shower and brushed my teeth. I changed into my summer pajamas which consisted of a light magenta tank top and black sweatpants from middle school. I buried myself under the sheets. About an hour later, I heard the chorus to Paramore’s “Let the Flames Begin” play.
